P.O.I. Easter eggs intentionally planted by Nolan and Plageman?
So in the season 2 premiere of Person of Interest, Contingency, we are given clues which imply that Finch’s kidnapper, Root, fell off the grid around the time she was 14, and that her real name is Hanna Frey. Hold that thought for just a sec.
Earlier today I was browsing some of the newer TED Talks videos (cuz I’m a science nerd) and came across one that was all about predicting patterns of human behaviour using computer algorithms in order to prevent crime. Obviously, being a hard-core Irrelevant (Person of Interest fan) I just HAD to watch the video, because it’s always terrifying neat to see just how fine the line between science-fact and science-fiction is in the Person of Interest universe.
So right about the time when my head asploded was when I saw that the presenter’s name was Hannah Fry, thinking that name sounds strangely familiar… Where have I heard that lately?
And then I realized that Root’s real name is Hanna Frey.
Hanna Frey = Hannah Fry? Coincidence? Or is this Jonah Nolan and Greg Plagemen being the clever, sneaky geniuses we know they are?
Reminds me of how they alluded to Ray Kurzweil, famous futurist and advocate of the technological singularity, by naming the first relevant number generated by The Machine after him. Or how Root’s alter ego Caroline Turing refers to the father of A.I., Alan Turing.
Thoughts anyone?
P.S. Click on the post title to watch Hannah Fry’s TED Talk.
